Kerr Medical Has Products from Smart Caregiver You Need

Saying that a caregiver’s job is hard is an understatement. Not everyone is cut out to become a caregiver. IThe requirements are more than mere caregiving and communicating skills and years of experience.  Caregiving  also requires lots of patience, understanding and compassion.

Cargiving can be challenging, emotionally draining, and stressful. At the end of the day, you feel physically and emotionally tired. But even during the evening you still tend to act like a sentinel who outside your patient’s bedroom, for fear that he or she might wake up, rise from the bed and wander. You often find yourself sleeping with an eye open.

Feelings of frustration also begin to set in. You are frustrated because you can’t find time on yourself or to do things you enjoy – possibly even losing interest in your personal pursuits. You may also suffer “caregiver stress” symptons – utter lack or inability to sleep, frequent pains in the head and body, and possibly a nervous breakdown.

Being a caregiver isn’t only hard work there are also rewards: closer relationship ties to your family and opportunity to mend broken relationships. Because this job requires you to constantly watch over your loved one, you may feel isolated or lonely, particularly when it comes to the outside world. Fortunately, it is these trying times which reveal who are your true friends are, who are ready to offer your support without asking anything in return.

Kerr Medical understands the challenges and the burdens that come with giving care to a loved one. For this reason, it offers a wide array of products made by Smart Caregiver, a pioneer in fall, dementia, and wandering preventative solutions for over 20 years. They are designed to ease the significant burdens of taking care of someone, and allow flexibility for the caretakers.

1) Caregiver Key

This caregiver key has a chain and Is compatible with several Smart Caregiver alarm models featuring the TamperProof Caregiver Key function (models TL-2100G, TL-2100S, TL-2100V, TL-2100CP, and TL-2016R3/4). It is also compatible with Smart Caregiver Anti-Wandering Door Exit Alarm Systems including models TL-3004SYS1/2 and TL-3005SYS1/2.

2) Anti-Wandering Single Door Exit Alarm System

Smart Caregiver has exceptional anti-wandering devices; the Anti-Wandering Single Door Exit Alarm System is one.  It is a comprehensive and efficient system which includes an exit alarm for a single door, also included is a wristband transmitter for the patient to wear, an AC adapter for the door bar alarm, a tamper-proof caregiver key, and a magnet contact switch. (optional)

This system sounds an alert so thecaregivers know when a wandering patient goes toward the exit. Caregivers don’t have to worry if their patient tries to leave their bedroom. It is also easy to install and perfect for both hospitals  and home use.

3) Cordless/Wireless Bed Alarm System with Pager

Another device that emits an alarm that is sent out to the caregiver’s pager. It takes away the noise from the bedroom, which may startle the patient.

You can place the pager up to 300 feet from a bed sensor pad or mattress. Caregivers also have the option to set the alarm to a vibrating mode.

With this device, caregivers don’t have to keep checking on their patients, which allows for more independence and flexibility, as well as more time to do other important tasks.

4) Bed Alarms with Floor Mat

This wireless bed alarm works with a bed pad or mattress. Once the mattress or pad detects a change of pressure as the patient attempts to get out of the bed, the bed alarm sends out an alert to the caregiver, who can immediately come to the patient’s aid.

This bed alarm also works with a floor mat, which is most ideally placed by the bedside or on the floor in the doorway. It also goes well with chair pads that are used in wheelchairs or traditional chairs.

5) Cordless Chair Pad

The cordless chair pad works like the bed pad or the floor mat. Once it detects a significant change of pressure as the patient attempts to stand up from his or her seat, it triggers an alarm which is sent out to the caregiver.

To work as a complete alarm system, it is best when used  with Smart Caregiver’s other Alarm Monitors 433-EC, 433-CMU-40 or -60, 433-CMU, and TL-2100G (each sold separately).

6) Nurse Call Cord

This Bedside Nurse Call Cord is used ideally with the TL-2016R3 Wireless Fall Monitor, and also the TL-2016P Caregiver Pager (both are sold separately). The clip keeps the call cord within reach for the patient to buzz his or her caregiver whenever he or she needs help.

7) Tidy Toilet Sensor Pad

Privacy is important and the Tidy Toilet Sensor Pad allows the patient to have privacy while they are in the restroom. With this device, the patient won’t feel awkward with having the caretaker watch over them whenever they relieve themselves. It is installed beneath the toilet seat as well as being connected to a corded alarm. When the patient is finished, the pad senses a pressure change  and the alarm notifies the waiting caregiver outside, and the caregiver can come to the patient’s aid.

8) Bed Safety Wedge

The Bed Safety Wedge may be a simple and basic device, but it gets the job done. With the bed safety wedge, the patient will be able to lie more comforatably on their side, and the caregiver won’t need to assist the patient this way.

9) Easy Release Velcro Seat Belt

This Easy Release Velcro Seat Belt can be a good alternative to chair sensor pads or floor mats. The Easy Release Velcro Seat Belt keeps the patient safe without restricting them. Once the patient disengages the belt, an alarm is sent to the caregiver. No worries here – after releasing the belt, the patient is still trying to stand up just yet, which gives the caregiver enough time to provide help.

To complete the system, the Easy Release Velcro Seat Belt should be used with other Smart Caregiver alarm models including the TL-2004E, TL-2100E,  TL-2016R3, TL-2100CP, TL-2100V,  or TL-2100G, (sold separately).

10) Two-Call Button System

Smart Caregiver’s goal is to provide streamlined solutions to make your lives easier and more manageable.

The simplicity of the Two-Call Button System is what makes it efficient: it can send  a signal from either the call button to the caregiver (up to 150′ from the call buttons). Place it on the wall or on top of the bedside table, or use a lanyard and wear it around the neck. The pager has several options including two chime options, output volume options of 70 and 80 decibels. It also has a clip caregivers can attach to a belt or it can be converted to use as a stand for any plane surface.

Kerr Medical has these products from Smart Caregiver, as well as others, that can help you care for your loved ones.

I called with questions and was greeted with very friendly and very helpful staff. The motion detector we bought is probably the best caregiving device we’ve bought so far.
